Tweightloss

I need to lose weight.

Shocker, I know. A lot of people say they need to lose weight around the New Year.

I just had a baby (Chuck, who will be 10 weeks tomorrow!) and was pretty close to being back to my "starting weight" shortly after she was born. However, that number was pretty high to begin with.

222 lbs. I'm 5'9". That's not a good weight for me, in any capacity.

So I, along with a bunch of my Twitter peeps, are starting what we're calling #tweightloss. We're operating under the "To Each His/Her Own" principle, so there's no rules, other than if you join, you want to lose weight.

Here's how I'm playing:
  1. I'm posting my weight weekly on Twitter, and probably also here. Knowing that someone else knows how much I truly weigh helps me. I can't explain it, but there you go.
  2. Getting up off my butt. It's really easy, especially with a baby, to sit around and do nothing all day long. I'm planning 15+ minutes of exercise 5 days a week for 2 weeks, then 30+ minutes 5 days a week after that. I'm joining a strollercize class so I can meet other moms around here too (which kills two birds with one stone, since I'm so very lonely up here by myself with the Overlord in my face 24-7.)
  3. Cutting out the sugar and the junk food and the fast food. I've already gone through the kitchen and boxed up all the crap to put in the guest room so it's not readily available when I go searching for a snack. We also bought some fiber bars (that don't taste gross, it's pretty nice) and some vegan "granola" bars made with pumpkin seeds and dried fruit and such.
  4. Changing the way I eat. I'm engaged to a chef, for chrissake. Yet I eat a lot of ready-to-eat crap from the freezer or fast food. He's offered to work up some meal plans with me, and we'll get some recipes thrown up here for quick and nutritious meals :)
That's pretty much it for me - when I get some more time and Chuck isn't screaming at the top of her lungs (like she is right now), I'll get a participant list posted. Leave a comment if you're interested in joining us - we might be able to get some cool prizes to give away if we get lots of people!

Looks like you have a large group growing fast... I know my plan is to lose 80 lbs... not sure it will all come off in one year.. but I need to have made a huge dent in it by this time next year.. and just all in all be a lot healthier life. Spent the last couple of years getting mentally and emotionally happy... lol should have done all three together. Lots of luck :) Love your blog

I'm there with you. You're brave for posting your weight. I will not. I am too scared to even jump on the scale. I don't want to know.
